How to reach Tadoba from Bangalore

This is the question I face whenever I suggest “Tadoba National Park” to my Bangalore friends. So I decided to write a detailed informative blog clearing their doubts and giving a clear plan for their trip.

First of all what bothers the Bangalore tourists? Is it the distance, time, the cost-effectiveness, or just lack of information? If it’s any one of these, don’t worry, this blog will give you the required information. This blog serves as a roadmap to the Bangalore wildlife lovers on what is the best way to reach Tadoba from Bangalore.

First of all let me tell about what’s so special about Tadoba. The Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve has the highest density of Tigers, Tiger cubs and other animals compared to all other wild life sanctuaries in India. We often see the random figures claiming the exact no of tigers in various sites. As a localite I know these figures are not accurate .It’s definitely higher. There are a large number of unexplored areas in Tadoba where many more Tigers may exist. The tigers keep moving from one place to another. One more interesting thing in Tadoba is that each tiger (the ones which are identified) has a name given by the forest officials for example, Maya, Veera, Matkasur etc. It makes the connection between them and the humans stronger. The four hour Jungle safari drive is an adventure in itself. The tiger stories from the guides are worth hearing and their ability to take you to the right spot for a sighting shows their dedication towards their work.

The best time to visit Tadoba is between October to June. The possibility of sighting the Tiger is more in peak summer as the animals come out in search of water. There is also a misconception that Tiger sighting happens only in Core and not in Buffer zone. This is not true. Majority of the Tiger sightings happen in the Buffer zone as there are lot of water bodies in the Buffer Zone too.
Please note that the Safari booking have to be done well in advance, almost a month before. The slots get full very fast. Most of the resorts give an all-inclusive package including Safari Booking. While booking safari on their own, many people make the mistake of not checking the distance from their resort to the safari gates. If you book the wrong gates nothing can be done and you will end up spending more time reaching the gates itself.
